17th Century Printing and Animal Gallows

In the Middle Ages animals too were punished!

In the Middle Ages, just like people were tried and punished, animals too were punished  if they had bitten or killed someone! Animals that were found “guilty” had their limbs cut off or were hung to death.

People living in 17th century Japan printed paintings!

In 17th century Japan, artists thrived as it became fashionable to decorate homes with paintings. But paintings were expensive and only rich people could afford to buy original paintings. So, the people started using a method called ukiyo-e or wood block printing. The paintings were made by tracing the painting and transferring it on a block of wood. Th wood was then carved and used to make several copies of the painting. This made it possible for common people to buy paintings too. Later ukiyo-e turned into an art form itself.

  1. Basically punishment is given to set an example to discourage others from committing crimes; I wonder if punishment had effect on other animals 🧐

Reading about ukiyo-e is informative 👍🏻
Did the ancient Chinese women really got cured?🤔
