The croissant was invented in Austria and not
France!
The croissant was invented in Vienna in 1683. In
1683 the Ottomans attacked Vienna but failed due to German and Polish forces coming
to the aid of the Austrians. It is believed that the Viennese bakers baked a
light and tasty crescent-shaped roll, that resembled the crescent on the
Ottoman’s flag to celebrate the victory over the Ottomans.
Tattoos were popular even as far back as the Egyptian
Civilization.
Tattoos are a very popular form of body art even
today. But did you know that king and queens had tattoos done on their body
too? Many kings and queens like Harold II, Edward VII, Peter the Great and
Catherine the Great had decorative designs and royal emblems tattooed on themselves.
All the communities used different ways of creating tattoos. The Maoris of New
Zealand used a tiny bone adze (bladed tool), in Arizona and Malaysia people
used thorns, in Japan needles were used and in some parts of Africa the skin
was cut with a knife and pigment was rubbed into the cuts to make the design.
