All Spartan boys were recruited in the army!


Sparta is a place in Greece. The Spartans were known to be fearless and courageous soldiers and they ensured that it remained so. At 7 years of age the boys were taken away from their families. They were taken to a place where many other boys had been brought to too. Here they were taught to fight. After they had been trained, they were sent to be recruited in the army. They had to serve compulsorily in this army till the age of 60!


 

Olympic athletes in ancient Greece were excused from paying their taxes!


The Olympics is an athletic event that takes place every 4 years. They were started in Olympia in ancient Greece in 776 BC. Athletes from all over of Greece would travel to them. There were no teams, every competitor competed for himself. The sports that every competitor had to taken part in were sprinting, discus and javelin throwing. The winners of these events were given huge banquets in their hometowns and statues of them were put up in the town squares. They were even excused from paying their taxes!

 

The Colosseum has 76 entrances and exits!


The Colosseum is a large amphitheatre in Rome, Italy. Shows such as gladiator fights, animal fights and naval battles. The monument had 76 entrances and exits in case of emergencies like fires!

    Such a unique treatment must have been a great encouragement to Athletes in Greece πŸ‘πŸ‘

    Colosseum has a seating capacity of 50,000 spectators & mostly more people used to come to watch & hence must have been packed like sardines πŸ€“
    Roman Empire was a very forward thinking one & hence had so many entrances and exits.
