Viking women also went to battle with the men!

Unlike other women in the Middle Ages, Viking women played an important role in society. Viking men had to pay a bride-price to the bride's family to marry her. And while her husband was away raiding some place, she managed her home and estate. A few women also served as speakers in court and even went to war!




Women in ancient Greece chewed gum!

In ancient Greece, women liked chewing gum. They chewed mastic gum that was a resin obtained from the bark of the mastic tree and made into gum. It cleaned their teeth and prevented bad breath.











Women in ancient China believed that it was inappropriate to be examined by doctors!

Ancient Chinese women believed that it was inappropriate to be examined by doctors. So, they marked the part of the body that needed treatment on an ivory figurine. The doctor then prescribed the treatment by looking at the affected body part marked on the figurine.
