Robots of the 18th century and More

The first robot was invented in the 1770s!
Robots are a thing of the 21st century now but do you know that the first robot was actually invented in the 1770s?! In the 1770s Pierre Jaquet-Droz invented a robot. It resembled a boy. He named the robot “The Writer” because it held a goose feather pen in his hand over a writing pad. At the time people called the robot an “automaton”. The robot could be used to write. To make the robot write you had to feed the text by changing the letters on a wheel. It also dipped the quill the ink, shook off the excess ink and only then wrote. The robot is still working and is displayed at Musee d’ Art et d’Histoire in Switzerland.
