Emperor Claudius used war elephants to invade Britain!

Emperor Claudius launched a campaign in 43 AD, to conquer Britain. His army consisted of 40,000 soldiers, but did you know, he also brought along elephants?! Another such conqueror who used elephants, was Hannibal of Carthage. Hannibal managed to march through the Alps and attack Rome! Unfortunately, most of his elephants died in the Alps and hence he had to face defeat.

 

A Roman emperor declared his horse as his successor!

Caligula was the 3rd Roman emperor. He owned a stallion named Incitatus. He loved him so much that he had an ivory manger, a marble stall and a jewelled collar made for him! However, the most bizarre thing that he did for his horse was… declare him as his successor! Wonder how this emperor would have gone to war?!

 

Abraham Lincoln was a wrestling champion!

Before, Abraham Lincoln became the 16th president of the United States of America he was a wrestling champion! He participated in 300 contests and lost only 1 out of them! Lincoln is also in the Wrestling Hall of Fame!
