High Heels of Ancient Persia

 

High heels were originally men’s shoes!

High heels are a type of shoes worn by only women. However, did you know they were originally men’s shoes?! High heels became popular around 10 B.C.E in Persia. The high heels were used by the soldiers of the Persian cavalry, so that their shoes would stay in the stirrups while riding.

 

Oranges were originally green!


We all have been taught that oranges are orange in color naturally. However, did you know that oranges were originally green?! Oranges aren’t native to Europe and the Americas. So, when they were imported for the 1st time, they were brought form Southeast Asia. And the oranges in Southeast Asia were hybrids between a tangerine and a pomelo, which are green themselves!

 

The 1st 3D film was invented in 1922!

Most of us have watched 3D films in the cinema halls. However, did you know that the 1st 3D film was invented in 1922?! In 1922 a film called ‘The Power of Love’ was released. It was the 1st 3D film in the world. You had to watch it with 3D glasses on, like we do today too!
