The ancient Egyptians had a New Year’s Day too!

The ancient Egyptians had many festivals dedicated to their gods and goddesses like the Heb-Sed festival, Festival of Opet and many more. However, did you know that they had a New Year’s Day too?! The New Year’s Day was called ‘Wepet Renpet’. The Nobel Peace Prize is named after the inventor of dynamite!

The Nobel Peace Prize is an award that goes to people who have worked towards peace. However, did you know the Nobel Peace Prize is named after the inventor of dynamite?! Alfred Nobel was a scientist who worked on the invention of explosives like dynamite, gelignite and ballistite. We would imagine someone who invented weapons of mass destruction, would never be someone the Nobel Peace Prize is named after. But the prize was named after Alfred Nobel as he left a large sum of money for the founding of the prize.
