Egyptian Manicure

The ancient Egyptians invented waxing!

The ancient Egyptians invented something called the ‘sugaring paste’. The ‘sugaring paste’ is nothing but today’s wax that women use to remove extra hair on their body. The Egyptians used sugar, water, and lemon to make the wax. The wax was then heated, applied and when it cooled, it was pulled off with a muslin cloth! Ouch!

Broccoli is an ancient Roman vegetable!

Most of us must have eaten broccoli. However, did you know that broccoli is an ancient Roman vegetable?! The word broccoli is derived from the Latin word ‘brachium’, which means ‘strong arm or branch’. So, the next time you eat broccoli, you're eating ancient Roman food!

During the late 17th-18th century, a chicken was called a ‘cackler’ and an egg was called a ‘cackling fart’!

Chickens were called ‘cacklers’ because the chickens make a cackling sound. And the eggs were called ‘cackling farts’ because they came out of the chicken’s butts!
